Elizabeth's Meat Market
It all started when...
Our family began offering European style foods to Torontonians in the 1960's. Our first store opened on the corner of Spadina Avenue and Baldwin Street, and was called "Universal Hentes Üzlet", which translates to Universal Butcher Shop.
In the 1970's, Budapest Meat Market was opened on Bloor Street, continuing the family traditions of wholesome food made the old fashioned way.
The next generation took over and ran "Elizabeth's Meat Market" in the 1980's. Many of our current customers still remember this deli on Bloor Street which is a testament to the quality products and services we've always provided.
In 1994, "Blue Danube Sausage House" opened it's doors on Chauncey Avenue in Etobicoke. Using all of our knowledge and skills, we became a favourite of the Canadian, Hungarian and Eastern European communities, not to mention all of our visitors from other provinces, the U.S. and overseas. Our loyal customers were happy to find us again, and we made new friends who instantly fell in love with our products.
The 3rd generation immersed themselves in the family business, starting with the tedious job of hand peeling pounds of garlic, to becoming master sausage makers. Soon after, we encountered our biggest obstacle: we ran out of space. It was time to expand to meet the demand for our products. After months of hard work, along came our new, state-of-the-art factory.
We have now accomplished our newest venture: the Blue Danube Sausage House Retail Store! Now one convenient location helps us to serve you even better.
Many things have changed over the years, however our recipes, dedication to quality, and our traditions and friendly personal service have not. We look forward to many more years of providing healthy, authentic, quality foods to you and your family! Visit us in Mississauga and jó étvágyat!!
